Toby’s work aims to help our education system make better use of technology and data. This involves research, grant-funding and some more experimental programmes. Currently, Toby is working on a programme with the Department for Education to design and develop an ‘EdTech Testbed’, mobilising groups of schools and colleges to support experimentation and robust evaluation of EdTech tools in real settings. Recent publications include ‘Educ-AI-tion Rebooted? Exploring the future of AI in schools and colleges’ and ‘Making the most of technology in education: Lessons from school systems around the world’. He is also a founder member of Sleuth, a co-operative data consultancy.
